Iona know how to produce soundscapes, big vast spaces which fill with melody and passion (Froots Magazine). The band creates a blaze of colours and textures... all the sounds fusing into a single, yearning, heartfelt, beautiful cry (Q Magazine). So close your eyes and prepare to sink into the atmosphere created by this magical band (Cornerstone Magazine, USA)
A young British band who are driven by their love for big, dancing guitar music. It is simply great jaw dropping, hip shaping rock music. The Last Carnival are probably one of the best unsigned bands around. Go see them . Two of the greatest names in the British folk tradition are heading down to play at the Burgess Hill Fairtrade Festival. Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick have had a major impact on traditional folk music with a career lasting 40 years. They still play with great energy and enthusiasm. Joining them is one of the new breed of young folk singers. Ewan McClennan was 2011 Horizon Award winner for best newcomer. A richly deep voice and easy guitar style marks him out as one to watch Come and sing Handel's Messiah or simply come and listen/ Sussex Chorus is putting a choir together to sing this iconic choral piece as our closing festival event. In the atmospheric setting of St Andrew's Church and featuring leading soloists this will be a truly memorable occasion.Conductor - Neil JenkinsSoprano - Katherine NicholasMezzo - Hannah SummersTenor - Jon GraveBaritone - Douglas Rice-BrownNicholas Houghton - OrganJohn Walker - PianoSussex Chorus
